In the beginning the smaller shops and principally bakeries in the area of Aachen were supplied, today ZENTIS is a worldwide operating company. A capital brainwave turns out to be an unprecedented innovative idea: in 1900 a colonial commodity trader processes dried apricots and sugar to a delicious jam and calls it FAMOS -the finest apricot jam without syrup. The first step from trader to jam producer was made; it quickly got about that this home-made apricot jam tasted particularly good. FAMOS quickly became what one would call today a market brand - the foundation stone for today`s important and successful industrial company ZENTIS was laid. Today ZENTIS GmbH and Co.KG employs round about 1,300 members of staff in Aachen and in the year 2006 it had a turnover of circa Euro 600 million (Gross turnover in all performing sectors of the group before consolidation). With a fruit processing capacity with a daily output volume of several hundred tonnes, ZENTIS is one of Europe´s largest fruit processing companies. Today the production is organized in three lines of business: 1. The manufacture of a wide selection of quality jams and sweet creams for the consumer. 2. The manufacture of confectionary products, high-quality marzipan- and chocolate products. 3. The manufacture of prepared fruits for the dairy- and baking products industry.
