A few years ago, Udi Baron and his then pastry chef Yasmin Lozada-Hissom were sampling granolas together, looking for the perfect one to include in their breakfast catering menu. When none seemed quite right and Udi was ready to give up, Yasmin remembered her Venezuelan grandmothers special recipe, and whipped up a batch for them to try. Udi was immediately enchanted, and Udis Granola was born of which Yasmin is also a proud partner. The rest is history. Aside from the love and care put into their original granola recipe, they also devote special attention to finding the very best ingredients available: thick-cut rolled oats, pure vanilla, and hearty, flavorful pieces of dried fruits and toasted nuts, bursting with flavor. They are especially proud of the locally made honey they use to sweeten and subtly flavor their granola, which they buy from the Colorado Honey Company. Owned and operated by the Johnston family, fourth-generation beekeepers they met at the Cherry Creek Farmers Market, the Colorado Honey Company harvests from hives they situate on different farms across Colorado, where the bees feed on their states abundant wildflowers and blossoms. Collected in the late summer and early fall, the honey is gently warmed at low heat in small batches, packed and stamped with a born on date, and sold directly to us.
