They started Olivias Croutons in April of 1991. The owners son David was almost two and his daughter Olivia was three. They started in their own kitchen with the Butter and Garlic flavor, sold in brown bags, hand stamped with rubber stamps. Twenty bags was a big order and it took quite a long time to hand cut each loaf and bake the croutons in their conventional oven. By August of that year they were dealing with about six stores, and had just signed on their first really big store. They did a demo and sold 200 bags or croutons in three days. This was a monumental step. They installed their first Blodgett convection oven in their kitchen and they rigged up a semi automatic cutter to help on the cutting end. Now they could really make croutons! Last summer we reached a milestone at FoodServiceDirect.com. We serviced our one hundred thousanth satisfied customer.
